History
Rev. James Hair, Rev. James McLaughlin, and Rev. Vernon Brown. Also, in the earlier church, some of the deacons were:
Jimmy Williams, Duncan McDonald, Ed McDonald, C. Rhone, Albert Carr, John Jackson, Wiley Boone, C.L. Carr, Fred Munn,
Will Jackson, Ike Carter, David Walker, and Deacon Kelly. Since 1901, the families which were Saint Paul Missionary Baptist
Church have undergone several reconstruction eras. Between 1947-1948, the structure (on Gully Mills Road, now known as
Plymouth Street) which was wooden, was torn down and replaced with a cinder block structure. This structure was destroyed
by fire in 1952 at which time the congregation met in the old Saint Paul School. Then in 1982, the structure, which is now
known as the Household of Faith, was built. From February 1972 until January 1990, the church was under the leadership of
Pastor Marion Jerome Wade. Under his guidance, the old Saint Paul underwent remodeling in 1974. In 1976, the church
began having morning worship every Sunday instead of once or twice a month. Also in 1976, a softball team was formed on
which the youth and adults participated. As an out growth of the softball team, a bowling league was formed. Evening worship
services were started in 1979. Aside from the natural things, many new and different Spiritual things took place. Many new
members were added. Many received Christ. Many received water baptism. Many received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and
a new kind of teaching came on the scene. A children's church was instituted. On Sunday, September 18, 1979, the church
body voted to purchase approximately eight (8)acres of land for the purpose of building a new structure. The building was to
take place in two phases. The ground-breaking ceremony for phase I of the construction took place on August 2, 1981. A
new edifice, which seats 425 persons, was constructed and occupied on the Second Sunday in April 1982. This new
structure, which is the present day place of worship consists of a baptismal pool, secretary/church office, pastor's study with
restroom, nursery, classrooms, tape room/bookstore, four public restrooms and a printing room. Also, during this period, the
Educational Wing was air conditioned, a public address system was purchased and on August 15, 1982, by unanimous vote,
the name Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church was changed to THE HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH WORLD OUTREACH CENTER,
INCORPORATED. The system of government was changed from a Congregational governed body to a Presbytery whereby
the Pastor, Elders and Deacons, with the Pastor as the head governs the entire body. Minister Annie Carter became interim
pastor in 1989 to 1990. Pastor Elmo B. Herman became the pastor in 1990. He remained as pastor until 1991. Minister Annie
Carter was ordained as pastor on July 26, 1992. Pastor Larry W. Carter, Sr. was made pastor in January 1995. Since 1995,
under his leadership, the body has united and completed the second phase of the construction. The multipurpose facility was
dedicated on May 14, 2000.
